Finding a place to update your British passport photo can be daunting. The drug stores, AAA, or Post Office won't do them. The reason? A UK passport photo is measured in millimeters, not inches. A standard US 2x2" photo is the wrong size! And the background must be light gray, not white.
Newsome's Studio of Photography, located at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy in North Tampa Cypress Point Office Park in Carrollwood) has been providing our foreign residents in the Central Florida area with top quality passport photos for nearly three decades.
If you're in need of updating your British Passport Photo in Tampa, call 813-968-2810 and schedule an appointment. You'll leave with your finished passport photos in less than ten minutes.
For all Passport needs, please contact Thomas Bruce Studio in St Pete at 727-577-5626.

Tampa Passport Photo Needs are on the Increase
In 2012, there were over 13.1 million US passports issued, up from 12.6 million in 2011. Quite a number of them (joking just a bit here), went to Newsome's Studio of Photography in Carrollwood for their passport picture. Newsome's Studio, located in Cypress Point Office Park at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy. in Tampa has been providing US travelers and foreigners alike, with incredibly high quality passport photos, guaranteed to pass muster with the 'reject stamp wielding goblins' at the passport office.
Why waste time and money on a photo that will likely be sent right back to you with a rejection letter. We've seen hundreds of them. People bring them in, along with the list of what's wrong with the image. Usually, it's out of focus, printed on the wrong paper, over exposed, and when it comes to passports from a foreign country... it ALWAYS the wrong size. US is pretty standard as a 2x2 inch, but nearly every other country on the planet measures by the metric system, and they all have different specs for their passport photos.
Go to Newsome's Studio, where experience with foreign passports are a common practice and our record of images being accepted is near perfect (notice I said "near?" We had a Canadian photo rejected once because they said she looked like she was smiling. She wasn't smiling, but she did have a dimple. Ask me how I resolved that and I'll knock $3 off your passport photo!).

Canadian Passport Photos, Tampa
Finding someone who can provide a proper Canadian passport photo in Tampa is not as easy as you might think. Most drug stores will/can only supply you with a 2x2 inch image, but the Canadian passport photo is measured in millimeters (50mmx70mm) which translates roughly to 2x2 3/4 inches. The head size is also very specific for the Canadian passport photo and if incorrect, can cause your passport to be rejected, slowing down your application/renewal process, and possibly costing you more money than necessary.
To insure your passport photo is correct, call Tampa's expert in foreign passport photos, Newsome's Studio of Photography, Inc., located at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa (Carrollowood in Cypress Point Office Park).
Call 813-968-2810 for an appointment for fast (less than ten minutes), and correct Canadian passport photos.

NO SMILING in Foreign Passport Photos
"NO SMILING!"
At first, I thought it was odd that smiling was not allowed in foreign passport images (it is still allowed in US passport images). Then I heard that many foreign governments are using facial recognition software to catch the bad guys, and they will often scan your passport photo to put it in their system. A smile distorts the face and inhibits the software's ability to find the correct match.
Now the question becomes... if the rest of the world is utilizing this method of making us safer, why isn't the US government doing the same thing? Obviously, there are people waaay smarter than me that might have an acceptable answer to that question, I just haven't met them yet (maybe someone can answer it here for me).
One way or the other, for all my Canadian and European friends needing passport photos, citizenship photos, immigration photos, or DV Lottery photos... NO SMILING!
Bring your unhappy face to Newsome's Studio of Photography in Cypress Point Office Park in Carrollwood (Tampa) and we'll promise not to make you laugh!

Canadian Passport Photos in Tampa
For Canadians living in the Tampa Area, the occasional need to update your Canadian passport can be something of a pain.
Obtaining a new photo can be even more difficult as there seem to be fewer and fewer places capable of providing one that conforms to the specs required by the Canadian government. Drug stores that offer passport photos will generally only provide photos for US passports, but not for foreign passports. This is due to the varying size requirements which are measured in millimeters instead of inches, as well as varying background requirements and paper surface types (Canadian specs call for a 50x70mm photo).
Fortunately, Newsome's Studio of Photography in Carrollwood (located at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy) has over 25 years experience in providing passport, citizenship, visa, residency, and immigration photos for ALL foreign countries,
All work by Newsome's Studio is guaranteed, and only takes about 10 minutes to walk out with your finished photos.
Because of the nature of the photography business, appointments are required, but can often be accommodated right away. For more information, CLICK HERE or call 813-968-2810.

Passport Images for Any Foreign Country
In a world where the business model of a professional photographer rarely includes running a retail or commercially located studio these days, it is getting harder are harder for consumers to find someone qualified to produce a quality passport photo, particularly ones meant to conform to the strict specifications of foreign countries.
Fortunately for those living in the Tampa / St Pete area, Newsome's Studio of Photography, located at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa, is still here to answer those needs.
In business since 1986, Newsome's Studio has built a reputation for high quality portraiture, and that includes Passport Photos!
Among their passport photo services, they provide images for US Passports, as well as any and all foreign country passports, including citizenship photos, immigration photos, residency photos, DV Lottery photos, weapons permit photos, and student ID photos.
While a few drug stores offer passport photo services, they are typically only able to accommodate US passports (2"x2"). Passport photos for foreign countries are much different and are measured in millimeters. Canadian passports, for example are 50x70mm while those from India are 35x35mm. And the UK or British passports are taken on a light gray background while US and most others are on a white background.
Another advantage to having Newsome's Studio create your passport image... they're REAL photographers! That means they use professional lighting equipment - NOT a popup flash on a point and shoot camera! While they are restricted from "retouching" any passport photos, there is absolutely no reason they can't help you look your very best with the use of professional lighting equipment (and yes, it really makes a difference).
All work (including passport photography) is done by appointment only. Please call 813-968-2810 for price and scheduling availability.
