Canadian Passport Photographer in Carrollwood

So, you're a Canadian citizen and you need to renew your Canadian passport. You live in the Tampa area and you've already made the mistake of going to the local drug store. They SAID they could do it, but they handed you a blurry, orange image that was cut to a 2x2" square. Your paperworks states that it should be clear, sharpe, no color cast, and cut to 50x70mm (quite obviously NOT square). What to do... what to do...

Call the Canadian passport photo EXPERT, Newsome's Studio of Photography in Carrollwood. Newsome's Studio, located at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, in Cypress Point Office Park (behind Starbucks, at the corner of Linebaugh and N. Dale Mabry).

By appointment only - 813-968-2810.

You'll walk out with the correct images, sized to spec, in about ten minutes.
You're welcome.

That's How it Works!

If you want your leaky faucet fixed, do you call a dog trainer?
If you want your tires rotated, do you call a real estate agent?
If you want your house painted, do you call a shoe repair shop?

No. So why, when you want passport photos taken, should you go to the drug store? Well... you shouldn't.

You want a quality photograph? Go to a quality photographer.
You want cough medicine? Go to the drug store.
See? That's how it works. Even if my electrician offered half price apendectomies, I still wouldn't call him to remove my appendix.

I can't count the number of times I've had clients walk into my studio crying "HELLLLP!" while holding passport photos they'd just had taken at a drugstore. You want it done right the first time, go to an expert. Drug stores LOSE money on passport photos. They know this, and they don't care, because they profit off your visit when you pick up hairspray and toothpaste while you're waiting for your poorly exposed passport photos to be printed... that's how it works!

Newsome's Studio of Photography, located in North Tampa (Carrollwood) at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, Tampa, FL 33618 (in Cypress Point Office Park, behind STARBUCKS at the corner of Linebaugh and Dale Mabry Hwy).

By appointment only, because THAT'S HOW IT WORKS! 813-968-2810

Passport Photo Studios in Tampa

Honestly, there aren't very many.

In fact, there are very few photography studios left in the Tampa area at all. Most photography businesses these days are either part-timers, or "on location only" shooters... they don't have camera rooms ("the world is my camera room!"). And that's fine, but they will not be able to accommodate passport photos.

Your only other choices besides a professional photography studio are travel clubs, drug stores, or shipping outlets, however, they typically only offer US passport sizes (2x2"). They're incapable of providing foreign passport photos that are measured in millimeters, and THAT'S where a professional STUDIO comes to the rescue.

Newsome's Studio of Photography, located in North Tampa (Carrollwood) at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, Tampa, has been providing professional passport photos for US passports and every other country on the planet (measured in millimeters) for over 30 years.

By appointment only, contact the studio at 813-968-2810 and schedule your 10 minute appointment to get it right the first time!

Egyptian Passport Photographer in Tampa

Let's talk about Egypt!

The Egypt passport photo size is 40x60mm, second in size only to Canada (50x70mm). The size is so uncommon that companies who make passport photo cutters, do not make this size. This requires the photographer to custom cut it - tricky at best. Measuring in millimeters is tough enough, but paper cutters do not have that measurement system listed on them, so you either convert to inches, or you have a mad skill superpower (which perfectly describes ME).

Several countries have odd size requirements, and all measured in millimeters, so foreign citizens are very limited in where they can go for their passport photo. Egyptian citizens in the Tampa area are fortunate that Newsome's Studio has the experience, equipment, and superpowers necessary to create a 40x60mm passport photo that adheres to the stated requirements of the Egyptian Consulate.

Newsome's Studio of Photography is located in North Tampa (Carrollwood) at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, Tampa, FL in Cypress Point Office Park (behind Starbucks at the corner of Linebaugh and Dale Mabry Hwy).

Please call for an appointment - 813-968-2810.

Australian Passport Photos Near Me

Okay, that title isn't even fair...

If you're an Australian citizen living in the Tampa area, and planning on going to Orlando this month to update your passport, you likely Googled the search term "Australian Passport Photos near me" or something of that nature. So essentially, that title will be a perfect match for your search results, and you know what? We ARE a perfect match!

Newsome's Studio is on the preferred photographer list for the Australian Consulate in Washington, DC, and for good reason... we invested heavily in a printer that would produce the highest quality passport photo possible, JUST so the Australian Consulate would approve! That's right, we dropped the big bucks, just to sell passport photos!

Newsome's Studio of Photography is located in North Tampa's Carrollwood area, at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, Tampa, FL 33618 (Cypress Point Office Park, behind Starbucks at the corner of Linebaugh and Dale Mabry).

We highly recommend an appointment, so call 813-968-2810.

DV Lottery Photo Photographer

It's that time again! November 17, 2017 is the deadline to submit your application for the Electronic Diversity Visa Lottery (aka DV Lottery).

You're going to need a passport size image that conforms to the size requirements similar to the US Passport, however, it isn't printed, it's submitted digitally, online only.

Essentially, that means you'll need to come to a photography studio (drug stores don't supply digital passport photos), and get a 600 pixel x 600 pixel JPEG, with your head sized properly for to their required specifications.

For your custom DV Lottery photo, all Tampa and St Pete area residents should call Newsome's Studio of Photography, located in Carrollwood (North Tampa) at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, Tampa (in Cypress Point Office Park, behind Starbucks at the corner of Linebaugh and N. Dale Mabry Hwy).

Call for an appointment, 813-968-2810.

Chinese Visa Photos for Travel Groups

More and more, we're getting calls for Chinese Visa and Chinese Passport photos. I suspect there's a big push for tourism there, because many of the calls I'm getting are from people who are registered to go visit China with a tour group.

The Chinese Visa photo is an odd size, 33x48mm, making it impossible for drug stores to accommodate (they basically only do US anyway, and that's measured in inches - or 51x51mm). To ask them to cut a 2x2 down to 33x48mm is akin to asking a barber to only trim three millimeters off your hair, and then attempting to measure it to see if they did correctly.

If you're part of a tour group, or know of one that is planning a group excursion to China, give us a call. We can easily accommodate the Chinese Visa photo for them in less than 10 minutes and they'll walk out with their finished images in hand.

Newsome's Studio is located in North Tampa (Carrollwood), at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, in Cypress Point Office Park behind Starbucks, at the corner of Linebaugh and Dale Mabry.

Call for an appointment, at 813-968-2810.

US Passport Photos Available in Tampa

You actually have a choice. You can go to the drug store or your local auto club office and have your US Passport photo made, or you can go to Newsome's Studio in Carrollwood (North Tampa).

Be aware though, that there will be differences. For instance, the cameras and lighting used by non-professional photographers will vary greatly. They are largely very simply "point and shoot" cameras using "auto" settings that produce a low resolution image. The lenses on those cameras cannot be manually focused, and if the settings have any manual availability at all, the operator likely has little to no experience with it, meaning if your image looks orange, they may not know how to fix it by changing the settings on the camera (yes, this is a very common problem).

At Newsome's Studio, you're being photographed by a 30+ year professional who uses only the very best photography equipment, camera, and lighting available. Face it folks, you're going to be looking at that image for 10 years... TEN YEARS! Get it done right. Go to Newsome's Studio at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, Tampa.

US Passports Now Discourage Smiling

Years after the rest of the planet made "stoic" passport photos fashionable, the US has finally begun following suit. At one time, a big 'ol American smile was acceptable in US Passport Photos, but not any more. The newest regulations require a closed mouth. They still appear to allow a slightly pleasant, closed-mouth smile, but no more grinning with teeth. Still not quite as strict as the rest of the planet, but getting there.

It seems the customs folks are using facial recognition software to scan the passport photos, looking for bad guys, and of course, bad guys NEVER smile in their photos, so it stands to reason that they don't want anyone else to either.

In any case, learn to smile more with your eyes, and less with your mouth. You local US bureaucrat will love you for it.

For the very best US Passport photos on the market, call a real photographer. Call Newsome's Studio of Photography at 813-968-2810. Located in North Tampa (Carrollwood), at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, Tampa (behind Starbucks in Cypress Point Office Park, at the corner of Linebaugh and Dale Mabry Hwy).

Think happy thoughts!

Passport Photos, Foreign Passports, Tampa

Newsome's Studio of Photography is Tampa's most experienced provider of foreign passport photos. The entire planet, with the exception of the US and Liberia, is now on the metric system. That means their images are measured in millimeters, not inches. If you're a citizen of a foreign country and you need to update your passport, you cannot go to the drug store for a your passport photo - you MUST go to a professional photography studio who can provide your images, customized to your country's specifications. Don't waste your time even asking the druggist if they can accommodate a 35x45mm or a 50x70mm passport photo - they can't.

Give us a call at 813-968-2810 and let Newsome's Studio ease your pain!

Australian Passport Photos, Tampa

Australian Passport Photographer, Central Florida

No, I'm not Australian, but I do drink Fosters occasionally (even though I've been told that it's just an American invented perception - much like Outback Steakhouse).

We do, however, create incredibly awesome passport photos for those needing to update or renew their Australian passports. And we don't just service the Tampa, St Petersburg area, we get Australians from all across the state. Why? Because we have a very good track record with the Australian Consulate in meeting the specifications and requirements for Australian passport photos (very strict!).

Newsome's Studio of Photography, located in Carrollwood (North Tampa), at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, in Cypress Point Office Park (behind Starbucks at the corner of Linebaugh Ave and North Dale Mabry Hwy).

Call to confirm we are here (we often get called out for location work), at 813-968-2810 or send us a message through our website at www.newsomesstudio.com.

Oh Canada! Passport Photographer, Tampa

At least three to four times a week, we have the honour (yes, that's the Canadian spelling), of creating Canadian passport photos for our Canadian neighbors living in the Tampa / St Pete area.

Many of them, are referred to us by the local drug stores and AAA offices who only create US sized passport photos (2x2 inch). Canada requires a much larger image (2x2.75 inch). And as with most of the rest of the planet, it's actually measured in millimeters (50x70mm), which means it has to be very precise.

If you're in the central Florida area and needing to update your Canadian Passport, Citizenship, Visa, or Immigration photos, give us a call at 813-968-2810. Newsome's Studio is now located at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, Tampa, in the Cypress Point Office Park (behind Starbucks at the corner of Linebaugh and N. Dale Mabry Hwy).

Irish Passport Photo Tampa

While most European countries have settled into standard for passport photos, the Irish are close, but not quite ready to square up with their Euro-brethren.

The Irish passport photo's stated required size is 35-38mm wide by 45-50mm tall (nearly all European photos are 35x45mm). A white or light colored background (compared to only light gray for the UK, France, or Germany), and although you may submit color, they prefer black and white (nearly all countries require color only).

To their credit, a handy overlay is supplied by Ireland to make sure your image will conform to their size standards.

If you want to be sure your Irish passport photos will pass muster, contact Newsome's Studio of Photography at 813-968-2810. Located at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219 in Carrollwood (behind Starbucks at the corner of Linebaugh Ave and North Dale Mabry Hwy, just north of Busch Blvd).

German Passport Photos Tampa

Within the last week, I've done three German Passport Photos for different clients. It had been almost a year since the last one, so it was unusual to get three right in a row like that, but good things come in threes, right?

A German Passport requires a 35mm x 45mm image on a light gray background, with a specific head size (32-36mm). Not many places can be so specific in sizes, and most will only measure in inches, so millimeters is near impossible for some.

If you're a German national, living here in the Tampa area (or Central Florida area), give us a call at 813-968-2810 when it is time to update your German passport. Newsome's Studio is now located (as of June 1, 2015) at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219 in the Cypress Point Office Park (behind Starbucks at the corner of Linebaugh and Dale Mabry Hwy).

QUIT LAUGHING!

I photographed a British citizen for her UK Passport this morning. As is the case with all foreign passport photos, you're not allowed to smile.

I once had a Canadian passport photo rejected because they said the woman was smiling in her photos. She wasn't, but when she gave her "relaxed, neutral expression" as required in the Canadian instructions, she had a very pronounced dimple! It wasn't her fault - she just looked like BETTY WHITE! Betty White ALWAYS looks like she's smiling, even when she's MAD. Well so did this poor woman. We reshot it, and with a bit of creative lighting techniques, I was able to fill that dimple with light and she passed. Whew!

Okay, back to this morning's Brit. She knew she wasn't allowed to smile, so just like me when I'm in church, or at a funeral, or at the Sunday dinner table when I was a kid, she couldn't help but to start smiling. Well, that turned into a stifled chuckle, which turned into a laugh. And once it started, she just couldn't stop. It took about ten minutes for her to get over the giggles so I could get the needed shot. We did it. She did it. It wasn't easy, but it's done. Now she looks like, in her words... "a proper criminal."

Newsome's Studio has been creating foreign passport photos for Earth's citizens since 1986. Give us a call and let us help you look like "a proper criminal!" 813-968-2810

Jamaican Passport Photos, Tampa

Well, you gotta love the Jamaicans.

Passport Photo requirements across the globe are all a bit different from one country to the next, but Jamaica has the best sense of humor of them all.

Aside from all the normal specifics required by most countries (size of image, size of head, height of eyes within the image, etc), Jamaica goes outside the box on background color. Most countries request white or light gray. In fact, nearly ALL of them require white or light gray. Jamaica, however... well, I'll let them explain it. This is a direct quote from their list of photo requirements:

"Applicants of light complexion should avoid wearing white clothing and should have the photographs taken against a pastel-shaded background.
Applicants of dark complexion should wear light-coloured clothing and photographs should be taken against a white background.
Applicants whose hair is grey should have photographs taken against a light blue background."

Now, suppose they didn't read this prior to getting dressed in the morning and a grey-haired woman with a dark complexion walks in wearing a dark blouse. Can you say "conundrum?"

I think a couple of hysterical little fellows in the passport office over in Kingston were just having a bit of fun - no, make that a LOT of fun - when they wrote out those requirements. Somehow, it accidently made it all the way to the PDF posted by the Jamaican government, and now we photographers are left trying to make sense of it.

Either way (make that "any of the three ways") you slice it, Newsome's Studio of Photography will help you get through it. So far, we're batting a thousand with Jamaica. Give us a call at 813-968-2810 and we'll figure this out together.

Canadian Permanent Residency Photographer, Tampa

So, it's time to apply for your Canadian Permanent Residency status, eh? Well, the photo you're going to need better be perfect, because the Canadian government can be rather picky on such things.

First off, don't bother going to the drug store for your photo, they can only do US passport size (2x2 inch). What you're going to need is 35mm x 45mm, and the head size must fall within 25-30mm as well. You know how small a millimeter is? Of course you do, you're from Canada! Pretty tight specs, eh?

Get it right the first time. Go to Newsome's Studio of Photography, located at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219, Tampa (in Carrollwood) and you'll be in and out with your clearly lit, perfectly exposed, very sharp images (set of two), that are cut and sized to the exact specifications of the Canadian government. Call 813-968-2810 today.

New Zealand Passport Photos, Tampa

Seems New Zealand is among the first countries to stop requiring paper passport photos and accept digital submissions only. At least that's what I deduced from the New Zealand government's passport photo submission page on their government web site.

The new requirements forego the need for a paper photo, and are now requiring a digital file.

Newsome's Studio of Photography, located in Main Street Plaza at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219 in Carrollwood (North Tampa) has been providing high quality passport photos for any country on the planet (over 50 different countries in just the last three years). If you're a citizen of another country and need to update your citizenship, immigration, passport, or visa photo, call 813-968-2810 and schedule your appointment today. Fast, affordable, and guaranteed to pass the specs from any foreign government.

Australian Passport Photo Photographer, Tampa

When an Australian citizen, living in the Tampa area, needs to update their Australian passport, they need photos that conform to the specs required by the Australian government. Australian passport photos are measured in millimeters, not inches (35x45mm).

To be certain your passport photos meet the Australian requirements, go to Tampa's passport photo specialist, Newsome's Studio of Photography, located in North Tampa at 10012 N. Dale Mabry Hwy, Suite 219 (Carrollwood), the same plaza as Villagio Cinema (between Barnes and Nobel and Outback Steakhouse).

Call 813-968-2810 for an appointment, and you'll have your passport photos in less than ten minutes!
